"I'm a dangerous person. I can win this" - Andy Hamilton feels confidence flowing after victory over Robert Thornton

Andy Hamilton has provided a small surprise in the second round of the World Senior Championship. 'The Hammer' won 3-2 over reigning world champion Robert Thornton.

Hamilton did have the good fortune that Thornton missed a huge number of doubles, including no fewer than nine missed match darts. "It was a battle. It was a great game, I was in front and behind and I just thought my game is all about fighting, so I'll fight to the end," recapped the 56-year-old Englishman post-match. "I ground him down and I'm so pleased. You know, this is like starting my career all over again."

A former PDC World Darts Championship finalist, Hamilton is already setting his sights on a possible seniors world title. "I'm a dangerous person I can win this," he insists. "I'm just going to enjoy it. If I win it I win it. If if I don't, someone's got to play well to beat me."

In the quarterfinals, Hamilton will take on pre-tournament favourite John Henderson. "I've played John loads of times and I've beaten him loads of times but tomorrow is a new game. As long as I focus on what I'm doing I can win."
