"I didn't think they would react like they do in England" - Nathan Aspinall stunned by Rotterdam response to Mr Brightside

Last Thursday, the Premier League Darts travelled to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The weekly title there went to Nathan Aspinall, who was too strong for Michael Smith in the final, 6-4.

Aspinall improved in the league title also, thanks to his Night 12 win, as he is now third in the standings, just three points behind leader Luke Humphries. However, 'The Asp' was particularly impressed by the Ahoy audience, who joined the custom of loudly singing along to his walk-on song 'Mr Brightside' by The Killers.

"It suprised me if I'm honest with you," Aspinall reflected on the night, in conversation with the Dutch reports at Viaplay. "I didn't think they would react like they do in England, because in Germany they didn’t."

"When the music stopped I said 'I'm not going to get involved' because they won't know the song but wow... they knew the song!" the 32-year-old Englishman continued. "It was amazing. Even Peter (Wright ed.) kicked me to say 'come on, get on with it'. They knew the song, made a great atmosphere with it and yeah, another great moment in my career."
