Prolific Price seals third ProTour title of 2023 with Players Championship 21 final win over maiden finalist Klose

Gerwyn Price got his ProTour account underway last time out in Hildesheim and to end the latest lot of Players Championship tournaments, he has added another at Event 21 in Barnsley.

It was an 8-6 win over Daniel Klose, a first time finalist who had never been past the second round before today.

Price cut a forlorn figure at times punching his hand and getting frustrated that he couldn't produce his best, but he got over the line in the end to avert what would've been a miracle at the (Barnsley) Metrodome.

Price missed darts for a 2-0 lead and Klose’s 171 to leave four saw him hit double two for 1-1. A 177 for Klose and double 20 saw him lead 2-1. Price didn’t give Klose a chance next time with a 59 checkout for 2-2.

Price missed the chance to break but Klose could not hit 110 and ‘The Iceman’ returned for double 20 for 3-2. A 95 checkout from Price saw him go 4-2 up.

Klose held for 4-3. Price missed 74 for a hold but returned with Klose messing up 44 only for Price to also have issues and the German was throwing for the lead at 4-4.

Price missed two to break back, but Klose wasn’t there to punish so Price broke back to go 5-4 up. He hit 80 to go 6-4 up with Klose breathing down his neck.

He held throw with a 71 checkout with Price this time ready to pounce. He went one away though on double 10 at 7-5. Klose forced Price to serve it out and he did just that on double 20.
