Tony West is a former World Master winning the tournament in 2003 after reaching the final in 2002 and he joined the new Masters of the World series on the Inside the WDF Podcast to discuss his success in that tournament.
As well as the end of his career which saw 'The Tornado' as he spoke about suffering a mini stroke which has seen him not the same since.
"I collapsed with a tia (a mini stroke) and I was on my own. I was sick and I smashed my head on the floor. I never called the ambulance and I thought if I die I die but then I got up went to go to the toilet and collapsed again. It was only my friend who was on the phone at the time, he called the police and the ambulance. I've never been right since," said West to the Inside the WDF Podcast.
"I was going to tournaments after that and everytime I was concentrating, I was throwing up. That only kept happening when I went to darts."
"I did a few exhibitions here with Fitton and O'Shea, we had three of them and I did the first one but I couldn't do the next two. It looked like I was drunk when I wasn't drunk, it was the illness."
One of his final games in 2016 came against his brother Steve West in the German Darts Championship where he was whitewashed 6-0 with the latter hitting a 110 average: "He had a great game that night 110 average, there's no fault in that. I thought I was playing well but I didn't really get much of a shot because every leg he was throwing out before I could even get to a double."
