Wayne Warren is the new BDO World Champion after defeating Jim Williams in a superb display in a feat which means he is the oldest first time winner of the title in history.
A brilliant run in the back end of the tie saw Warren move away from Williams who for many was the pre-tournament favourite. Also before the tournament, 'Yank' got a new set of darts from Red Dragon like Peter Wright and both are now World Champions.
Williams was quick off the mark early winning the first set against the throw and included a brilliant 102 checkout.
In the next set though, it went all the way but Warren went 180, 140, 135 to leave 36 after nine but he missed three to level and Williams pinned double 16 for a 2-0 lead in sets.
The next set went all the way again with Warren having the throw in the decider; despite the former missing three set darts, Williams didn't get a set dart and Warren hit double one to edge it meaning it was now 2-1.
Warren claimed the break he needed in the next set to go 2-1 up in legs; but Williams hit a 104; in order to break straight back. Despite that though it didn't go the way of the Quiff; as he missed two darts and this gave Warren a chance and he levelled at 2-2.
Warren was on a roll and next set he hit a 15 darter to go in front for the first time at 3-2; but despite that Williams clean sweeped the next set to make it 3-3.
It was Warren who continued to make this back and forth final even more interesting; as he took the seventh set 3-1 to break in 15 and go 4-3 up.
In the next set, Warren missed three darts for the set including one at bull and two at double eight and Williams hit double 10 to pinch the set 3-2; this was a missed opportunity for Warren to make it 5-3 and it was 4-4.
Despite that, Warren broke in the next set with a 121 to make it 2-0; he whitewashed it 3-0 to make it 5-4 as it became even less easier to call.
A 14 darter saw Warren break throw, despite that though Williams ended Warren's run of legs but he was throwing for the set; he hit a 180 to leave 40 and he found double five to go one set away from the title.
A 140 and 123 saw Warren put himself towards a finish; despite Williams hitting a 180, the former put himself one away.
Warren pressured again with a 140 leaving 49; but Williams himself left 32 to hold and send it all the way again.
Williams pressured Warren's darts with a 180; but Warren was first to a finish in the form of a 121 but he missed the bull for the win. Williams wanted the same; but strayed into the three giving Warren the shot for 50 and he claimed it to disbelief.
