Our final has been confirmed at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy with two tungsten titans in the form of Adrian Lewis and Michael van Gerwen going head to head for the £25,000 top prize.

It could have so easily have been Paul Nicholson who would be facing Van Gerwen but in a thriller which has been a theme with Nicholson this weekend, Lewis came through 7-6 against a resurgent Asset.

It seemed as if the former Players Championship Finals winner was heading home but he smashed in magnificent checkouts of 121 and 128 to force the decider. ‘Jackpot’ held firm though and after a few slack visits from Nicholson he pounced to win the match and set up the tie with Van Gerwen.

For both him and Nicholson though it is a landmark day in both of their seasons with both delivering on their early season promise to return to form. The former 2x World Champion will hope to slay the European Tour king, Michael van Gerwen and show he is most definitely back.
