Peter Wright completed the quarter final lineup as he recovered from a set down against Mervyn King to triumph 3-1.
King found himself on 68 twice in the first set, but with different outcomes. After first missing a big number with his second dart and seeing Wright capitalize on the mistake, he recovered in the next leg by taking it out to win the set.
‘Snakebite’ battled back by hitting a 116-finish to level the match. He topped that with a 141-checkout in set three, which helped him on his way to moving within one set of the match.
Throughout the game, Wright appeared to struggle with an elbow problem. It didn't seem to affect his play, however, as the UK Open champion fired in another strong finish of 121 to take a 2-0 lead in set four. After King took a while to hit his starting double, the Scot cruised towards a 3-2 victory with a 112-finish.
