Nathan Aspinall has claimed a straight sets victory on his PDC World Championship debut after he saw off Geert Nentjes.

Aspinall who in 2018 has claimed his first ProTour title win survived late pressure from the young Dutchman but came through without dropping a set. Nentjes started the first set poorly averaging 69 in being beaten three-one hitting only 1/10 on his doubles. This did not improve much in the second set either with him only adding one leg to that tally and making it 2/19. In turn this showed potentially Nentjes’ lack of experience on the stage. He like alluded to added pressure in the next set even hitting the front for the first time; but as was the case in most of the contest, missed doubles stopped his charge. This time it was for Nentjes to claim his first set and this allowed Aspinall to claim the penultimate first round win. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
