Barnard after marathon first round win over De Sousa: ‘I just kept fighting’

Michael Barnard completed a marathon win over Jose de Sousa on Friday afternoon and afterwards he spoke to Live Darts admitting he just thought to himself just keep fighting when he lost the lead.

Barnard also spoke about his second round opponent Jermaine Wattimena saying despite the quickness of his opponent that he won’t change the way he’s going to play.
“It’s very hard to say. I was 2-0 up and cruising then all of a sudden he dug in!” said Barnard.
On when De Sousa started to fight back, Barnard said he thought to himself keep fighting and don’t let it slip.
“I just kept fighting and I just thought to myself just don’t let it slip, keep fighting.”
Barnard has returned to the World Championship for the first time in ten years this year and he has said that as soon as he found out he was back in he wanted to give it a real good go.
“Yeah I love it, second time here. First time I was here ten years ago I lost 3-0 to Andy Hamilton and I didn’t play bad. As soon as I found out I was back in, I thought let’s have a go this year.”
Finally on his opponent in the next round Jermaine Wattimena, the Challenge Tour champion has said that he hopes it will be a good game.
“I play the same whoever I play. I have never played Jermaine but hopefully it will be a good game.”
