Barnard survives match darts in seeing off De Sousa as day two begins at PDC World Darts Championship

Day Two has begin with an absolute marathon of a match between Michael Barnard and Jose de Sousa with the latter coming from a seemingly insurmountable position to level it up.

Barnard though still came out the winner in a three-two sets victory in a game before hand he was expected to win comfortably. He averaged 88.08 en route to the win and the Challenge Tour winner will be pleased to survive the late comeback. At the beginning it was a match of missed doubles from De Sousa with Barnard pinching the set 3-2. The Portuguese ace in the next set showed his prowess in the scoring going seven perfect darts into the nine darter. Later in the set though despite this he squandered multiple set darts and again Barnard was there to pounce. He was 2-1 up in the next set so within one but De Sousa came back into the contest. De Sousa hit four straight legs before them claiming the set. Barnard stopped the rot with a 96 checkout but it was the Portuguese player who claimed the set. He looked like he’d win but Barnard tied it up into a decider and as a result he claimed the win from there. He will face Jermaine Wattimena in Round Two after his close shave against De Sousa. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
