Dimitri van den Bergh wins PDC Young Player of the Year at annual awards evening

Dimitri van den Bergh has had a good year rising up the rankings and winning the PDC World Youth Championship at Minehead in November and now he has won the PDC Young Player of the Year to boot.
Following that up as well with two quarter-finals at the World Series of Darts Finals and the showpiece event, the World Championship to end the year off well with fans tipping the Dreammaker for greatness.
As well as potentially a Premier League spot which in this case proved too premature with the Belgian being given another year in order to prove himself.
He will embark on the World Series as well this year with his role in the tour confirmed but unknown, it will be a good chance though for him to show his skills on a global tour and put himself in the reckoning for Premier League spots next year with the likes of Daryl Gurney and Gerwyn Price benefitting from it.

- Many fans had a sour taste in their mouth by the end of this match. Mike was cruising to victory, playing beautiful darts, when the whistling started in earnest, particularly on his doubles. You could see in Mike's face that it was really affecting his concentration. The referee should have asked for order, just to show that the whistling is unacceptable, and Luke Littler could also have done his part to quieten down the crowd instead of "taking full advantage.:" I put that down to his age though. He needs some good advice on this from his management team and/or more seasoned players. It's got to be about who's best on the night, not who is being harassed by the crowd. Luke Littler played well to get back into the game and win, but it was a hollow victory. If he goes on to win the tournament, that triumph too will be tainted because of this match.
