Afterwards he spoke to Live Darts and said he was pleased to get the win but that he was surprised Koltsov didn’t turn up.
“I’m just overwhelmed to get that win back on the board. It’s nice to come back and get the win”, said Dobey.
On whether his preparation changed compared to last year due to the lesser opposition, ‘Hollywood’ said he was focused the same knowing he can’t take anyone lightly.
“You can’t take anybody lightly in this game. The standard is way too high for that. I was focused the same as I was last year, just keep calm and do what I do best and hopefully get that win.”
Koltsov didn’t turn up and play the way that has previously been seen and Dobey was overwhelmed that he didn’t play to his best.
“I’m just overwhelmed that he didn’t push me as much as I can. He will be back and will be better than that, that’s for sure.”
He faces Steve Beaton in the next round and admits that he is his idol but that he is just going to play his game.
“He’s my idol, it’s going to be good. I’m not going to think too much into it, I’m going to play my game and I’m going to come back better and stronger.”
