Dutch Darts Masters 2019 preview and schedule: Sunday afternoon session

There's a meeting of Dutch titans to kick off round three of the Dutch Darts Masters on Sunday.

Michael van Gerwen is used to being around on the final day of play in Zwolle. He's won this title for the past five years on the spin. Usually he does so as the darling of the home crowd, but he's against the one opponent more popular than him in the Netherlands. Raymond van Barneveld winning the Dutch Darts Masters would be an incredible catalyst during a rough farewell season. This will require a massive effort from the five-time world champion.
The winner of that game will definitely play an English opponent in the quarter-finals. But will it be Dave Chisnall, or Ricky Evans? Both recorded comfortable 6-2 wins in the second round. In the third tie, Glen Durrant is back after an unexpected day off. He faces the surprise package of the Dutch Darts Masters, Swedish strongman Dennis Nilsson. Victory for the latter would be a huge coup for the Nordic & Baltic game.
Gerwyn Price made light work of Krzysztof Ratajski, which may have surprised him. He'll want to avoid a more nasty shock against Brendan Dolan, who started the run of seed-killing on Saturday with his elimination of Stephen Bunting.

Jermaine Wattimena saw off the challenge of Danny Noppert on Saturday. It doesn't get any easier for the Dutchman though, as Ian White stands between him and the quarter-finals. The Diamond kept his cool to beat Mickey Mansell, and after leaping that hurdle, he'll have an eye on making the evening session. Vincent van der Voort is playing some top darts, and has the Zwolle faithful on his side. This could be a huge weekend for the towering Dutchman. He plays Max Hopp, who surprisingly stuffed Joe Cullen last time out. Peter Wright meets Simon Whitlock in a rare match between two seeds, and in the final game, Mervyn King takes on Rowby-John Rodriguez. The Austrian is putting in one of his best senior stage showings to date, and will be a huge challenge for the veteran Englishman.
