Format 2019 PDC World Darts Championship confirmed: No tie-breaker in first round

After the draw and schedule has been confirmed for the PDC World Championship beginning in a few weeks time the format has now been.

The main change to this is that there will be no tie break in this year’s World Championship edition in the first round. There will be for subsequent rounds; but in the first matches mainly due to the amount of players it could go to a deciding leg as opposed to the usual tie break. View the full format below. First Round - Best of five sets (no tie-break) Second Round - Best of five sets Third Round - Best of seven sets Fourth Round - Best of seven sets Quarter-Finals - Best of nine sets Semi-Finals - Best of 11 sets Final - Best of 13 sets A tie-break will be in operation in all round from the second round onwards, where the final set must be won by two clear legs. If the score reaches five-all, the 11th leg will be a sudden-death leg.
