A special name appears on the list of entries for the BDO Denmark Open and Denmark Masters. Former Dutch football star Rafael van der Vaart will be competing for the titles in Denmark.

Van der Vaart, who counts Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax among his former clubs, appears to be making the switch to the oche. The 36-year-old's brother, Fernando van der Vaart, has also signed up for the BDO events on May 4-5 in Esbjerg.
The ex-winger currently resides in Denmark, where partner Estavana Polman plies her trade for Danish handball side Team Esbjerg.

Pro-Am appearance

In January, 'Raffie' played alongside Michael van Gerwen at the Promi-Darts World Championship in Germany. The Dutch pair reached the final of the celebrity pro-am event, where they lost to Max Hopp and actor Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht.

Vincent, give it up

Vincent van der Voort's raucous walk-on owes a lot to Van der Vaart. The Dutchman become a fan favourite at Tottenham, where he played from 2010 to 2012.
Spurs fans came up with a chant for him, to the tune of Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band.
The chant was quickly adapted to the darts, with fans singing to Van der Voort. The PDC and Sky Sports then decided to change the Dutch Destroyer's walk-on tune to encourage the singing.

"It's a shit song"

As it turns out, Van der Voort isn't a fan of the tune. "It's a shit song, but it helps a lot!" he told two years ago. "If you go on YouTube and see the song, it's crap but it helps because everyone is cheering you on and it gives you a boost.' "People sing the song outside my house and when I'm on a flight back from a ProTour there are always English people on there singing it'', the former UK Open finalist said.
