Gurney on Premier League play-offs ahead of facing Suljovic: ‘I don't want to be finishing fifth again’

Daryl Gurney will take on Mensur Suljovic in Cardiff with a play-off push firmly in the mind of ‘Superchin’.
Gurney finished fifth last year and said before the game that he wants to be at the O2 and not missing out again. "If I can beat him (Suljovic) then it will keep me in the hunt for the top four and that's what I want," said Gurney. "I want to be in The O2 at the end of this - I don't want to be finishing fifth again! "Fifth is not bad playing against the top nine players in the world, but realistically I would love to be going to The O2. If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
