Max Hopp surges into World Matchplay qualification after win in Saarbrucken

Max Hopp claimed the German Darts Open title on Sunday with a stunning victory over Michael Smith which also brought him other permutations as well as the winners cheque and the title.

He is now into the first provisional qualification spot for the World Matchplay in the summer at the Winter Gardens. 'The Maximiser' has had a career changing weekend with before him seemingly sliding down the rankings and now he is rising again.
Hopp as well as qualifying for the Matchplay will qualify for the World Grand Prix and potentially the Grand Slam of Darts depending on results on the Euro Tour in the coming months.
Also Jamie Lewis has lost his spot due to the German Number 1 making his way to the top of the rankings. In addition, Mervyn King and Jelle Klaasen have further improved their positions and their chances of qualification.
Benito van de Pas has also given himself a fighting chance of qualifying as he rises up on the provisional Order of Merit just behind Adrian Lewis who remains just behind Darren Webster in 16th.
