‘The pressure got to me’ - Jamie Lewis speaks after loss to Phil Taylor

Jamie Lewis bowed out of the World Championship yesterday at the semi-Final stage after a great tournament for the Welshman.
He came from the Preliminary Round all the way to the semis which can be seen as a massive achievement for the player who has had a torrid twelve months and he admitted after his loss to Phil Taylor that he wants it to act as a catalyst for future success as such.
"I was trying to blank it out but the occasion got the better of me," Lewis conceded. "Deep down I was thinking that I could be the last man to beat Phil Taylor in a World Championship.
"I had chances early on and misses a few crucial doubles, and Phil punished me. The pressure got to me a little bit but I will learn from it.
"My doubles have been good all week but I missed some today at important times as well which you can't do against Phil.
"It's a stepping stone for next year, I know the darts are there now so I just need to produce them next year now."

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. It happens, I have watched and heard Littler being jeered - Dirk van Duijvenbode in Holland, January this year. Where was your outrage then?
