Jamie Lewis is by far the surprise of the World Championships Darts 2018. The 26-year-old from Wales plays so far has had a fantastic tournament with a tournament average of almost a hundred.
With this, Lewis not only surprises his opponents and people watching, but also himself. Because in October he expressed his disappointment on Twitter about missing the world championship.
"I am deeply disappointed that for the first time in years I have not qualified for the World Championship. I never felt so frustrated before, but I am only due to myself. Still, I remain confident that my time is yet to come. "
The time of 'Fireball' came faster than expected. Lewis grabbed his last chance and forced participation in the
PDC World Darts Championship 2018 through the last qualifying tournament.
After a narrow victory over Kenny Neyens (2-1), all brakes broke with the former WDF youth world champion. First, Jonny Clayton was beaten 3-0, then a brilliant 4-1 victory over Peter Wright followed.
Thereafter, Lewis made big victories over James Richardson (4-1) and Darren Webster (h5-0). In the semi-final Lewis can give his World Cup fairytale a sequel with a victory over Phil Taylor.
