Giant-killer
Jamie Lewis powered into the World Championship quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory, as James Richardson found Fireball too hot to handle. The first set went the way of the world number 53, after Lewis missed a host of chances to make the perfect start. Bullseye was wired for a 164 checkout from Lewis in the fifth and deciding leg, allowing Richardson to nail tops. The Welshman bounced back, but was still taken to a decider after missing three set darts. Lewis kept his cool to make it 1-1, and then kicked off the third set with a stunning 170 finish. He then stepped up a gear, hitting his first maximum and taking his match average to 95 as he took the lead.
Richardson, now under the sort of pressure Alan Norris was unable to provide, was not proving to be as Ruthless as the nickname suggests. A 121 finish took the fourth set to another decider, and it was Lewis who prevailed again, throwing a near-perfect ten dart leg to go within touching distance of victory. From there it was plain sailing. Lewis had proved as cool under pressure when tipped to win as he had been as the rank outsider in yesterday's thrilling win over Peter Wright. Though Richardson claimed the third leg of the fifth set, the 26-year-old kept his cool to find double 5 and seal a quarter-final match against 23rd seed Darren Webster.
