Kyle Anderson will look to add to his collection of two tournament wins in three weeks as he begins the Melbourne darts masters against compatriot Simon Whitlock. The Australian Numbers 1 and 2 will meet for the third time in as many TV events, Whitlock winning the first in Blackpool at the World Matchplay, with Kyle exacting revenge last week on route to his maiden TV title success.
World Youth Champion and Auckland runner-up Corey Cadby will meet Raymond van Barneveld in the first round, remaining on course to have met Phil Taylor in every World Series competed in should he and the 16-time World champ both come through their opening games. Cody Harris will be the man attempting to top Taylor.
Tv Debutants Justin Thompson and Dave Marland have been drawn in the same quarter of the draw. They’ll have to get past Gary Anderson and Las Vegas Runner-Up Daryl Gurney in the first round to set up an all Aussie debutant second round.
Elsewhere, Rhys Matthewson, conqueror of James Wade last year will meet Peter Wright, whilst experienced campaigner David Platt plays Michael Smith. Finally, Koha Kokiri, unlucky not to have been in Auckland last weekend plays in the world series for the first of 2 times this year. He’ll meet Last weekend’s semi-finalist, James Wade.
UK Viewers can catch delayed coverage of all matches via ITV4 starting tomorrow.
