Price on World Cup of Darts chances after first round win: “There’s no reason why we can’t win this tournament”

Gerwyn Price & Jonny Clayton picked up their first victory as a team last night at the World Cup of Darts. The duo defeated Thailand and avoided a first round shock playing quite well in patches.
Price spoke afterwards and admitted there is no reason why they can’t win the whole tournament if they play to their potential.
He has also said that both him and Clayton were desperate to use the World Cup of Darts as a platform to play well for their country.
“Doubles games in a short format are always hard and we’re both desperate to play well for our country,” Price commented.
“We weren’t at our best tonight but the only important thing tonight was to get through so we’re happy to have done that. Last year Mark [Webster] and myself did well, and I believe that there’s no reason why we can’t win this tournament this year if we play to our potential.”

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
