Darts statistician Christopher Kempf also known as Ochepedia has charted the progression of PDC record stage averages over the course of four to fifty legs.

Michael van Gerwen hit the highest average but this was only over the course of eight legs when he defeated Michael Smith in the Premier League. Peter Wright hit 119.50, but this game was one leg longer.
Phil Taylor appears on the list four times with Mighty Mike three. Taylor’s first foray on the list is back in 2009 where over thirteen legs he hit a 118.14 average.
MVG hit two in the final four in the 2017 World Championship where of course he claimed the title. These were in classics against Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson.
Taylor hit the best average over the fifty legs though hitting 103.04 in the 2013 final where he hit it throughout the full duration.
