GRANDPRIX RD2 VBARNEVELD9

Raymond van Barneveld ended up winning the first match of The Masters 2018. The Dutchman defeated Dave Chisnall 10-9 in a game that saw a spirited fightback from his opponent after being on the brink of defeat. It is Barney though that is through to the Quarter-Finals in Milton Keynes.

'Barney' led 7-3 and it ended up going to a deciding leg as 'Chizzy' fought back to 9-9. For Barney it was the bull to start the game off and grab the throw that gave him his passage through. The Dutchman stood firm to deny the St Helens ace who looked good towards the end of proceedings.
The standard of the opening game showed with Raymond van Barneveld averaging 101 to his opponents 106.48 in one of the highest losing averages in the history of the tournament. Chisnall shows he can still mix it with the best after a barren last year or so which saw him lose out on a Premier League spot.
