The first World Series event of the season is coming up next Friday with the German Darts Masters at the Veltins Arena with some of the best names in darts including Germany's finest in Max Hopp and Martin Schindler.
Both have tough tests in the first round when both players kick off the evening session one after each other. Schindler will face Dimitri van den Bergh while Hopp will face Michael van Gerwen.
Starting off proceedings though at the German Darts Masters will be Raymond van Barneveld who will face Manfred Bilderl, 'Barney' won't be so ever present on the World Series this year so will hope to make the most of his opportunity. So will Bilderl though in front of his home crowd.
Jamie Lewis is second up and will face Nico Kurz with the Fireball making his World Series debut based on his exploits at the World Championship.
Mensur Suljovic will probably be the main player out of the qualifiers that isn't German that will get the best reception barring Peter Wright. Suljovic is German speaking and will face the Croatian-German, Robert Marijanovic who is a very capable player.
Finally speaking of capable players, Gary Anderson could have his hands full in the final game of the first session. He will face Gabriel Clemens, the former World Masters semi-finalist.
Of the other games of the first round, defending champion Peter Wright will face Dragutin Horvat and Rob Cross will face Stefan Stoyke. he rest of the tournament is played out from there with a winner crowned.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
