The strict age restrictions are due to current and potential sponsors of the event that could possibly be inappropriate for under age players. The
BDO board are working hard on a solution for under 18’s and will hopefully have some exciting news over the next few months.
The 2018 BDO World Darts Trophy is set to storm into the city of Preston from May 30th, where the top BDO stars will battle it out over five days to see who will emerge as supreme champion. Hosted at the prestigious Preston Guildhall, Lancashire will be well represented with current World Number 2, Mark ‘The Gladiator’ McGeeney and reigning Women’s World Champion, ‘The Lancashire Rose’, Lisa Ashton in this year’s line-up.
They will be joined by a top quality field, including current Men’s World Champion Glen Durrant, Wales International and World Number 4, Jim Williams, 10 times Ladies World Champion, Trina Gulliver, current World Number 1 and Winmau World Masters Winner, Lorraine Winstanley and reigning Dutch Open Champion and England Captain Deta Hedman.
The competition will also comprise of 4 qualifiers in the Men’s and 2 qualifiers in the Ladies tournaments. The qualifiers will be played on Friday 11th May at Prestatyn Central Beach, Wales. The qualifiers are open to all, but entrants must pre-enter online at www.bdodarts.com
As one of three majors in the BDO calendar, the City of Preston will be able to spectate the popular sport of darts, along with the stalwart fans that travel the globe to support their favourite players! The event runs from the 30th May to 3rd June, and with tickets starting from just £10.00, and discounts available for the week, the event is bound to be a sell out!
