Phil Taylor won’t be involved at the Winter Gardens this year due to his retirement but has left his mark on the World Matchplay in the statistics as well.

Going into the 2018 edition he still holds the record for the highest average at the World Matchplay with 114.99.
Overall he holds all but three of the highest averages showing the dominant nature of Taylor in this tournament.
Michael Van Gerwen is down in fifth with an effort of 110.93 closely followed by Adrian Lewis who could meet Mighty Mike in round 2 this time who hit 110.51.
The only other player on the list is Peter Wright who holds a best of 108.39. ‘The Power’s lowest effort on the list is 107.19.
