UK Open Qualifying 1 results, last 32: Whitlock defeats Cadby in thriller and Van Gerwen, Lewis & Wright all through

The first UK Open Qualifier is coming towards it's close with a lot of big names still involved in the reckoning at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan. Those include Simon Whitlock, Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis and Peter Wright.
As well as Michael Smith, Kyle Anderson, Kim Huybrechts and Daryl Gurney to show that today we should not really get a surprise winner and the players who have got to this stage have effectively booked their places in the UK Open in Minehead.
There has also been some surprising but well known players through to the Last 16 with the likes of Robert Owen who has the second highest average only to Michael van Gerwen for today and has recently just won back his tour card. The man known as 'Stack Attack' defeated Kirk Shepherd to continue a great run.
Also there were wins for the likes of Matthew Edgar who knocked out Mervyn King 6-2 as well as the first time ProTour players in the form of Jose Antonio Justicia Perales from Spain who recently won his tour card and on debut has got through to the Last 16 as well as former BDO player Dave Prins who came through a tight battle with Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-5.

- Many fans had a sour taste in their mouth by the end of this match. Mike was cruising to victory, playing beautiful darts, when the whistling started in earnest, particularly on his doubles. You could see in Mike's face that it was really affecting his concentration. The referee should have asked for order, just to show that the whistling is unacceptable, and Luke Littler could also have done his part to quieten down the crowd instead of "taking full advantage.:" I put that down to his age though. He needs some good advice on this from his management team and/or more seasoned players. It's got to be about who's best on the night, not who is being harassed by the crowd. Luke Littler played well to get back into the game and win, but it was a hollow victory. If he goes on to win the tournament, that triumph too will be tainted because of this match.
