Rob Cross was pushed hard by Lee Evans, who averaged 101 to the world champion's 94. But Voltage came out the 6-4 winner. Brett Claydon and Ted Evetts will meet in the last 32. They defeated Vincent van der Voort and Steve Beaton respectively. Krzysztof Ratajski put in an impressive performance to edge out Ian White, despite the Diamond's 104 average. David Pallett knocked out a sub-par Mervyn King with a 6-0 whitewash.
