It was 15 years ago that the first ever UK Open was held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.

The tournament has gone from strength to strength since. Now it is held at Butlin's in Minehead, with the winner picking up a cool £350,000. 128 players, a mix of professionals and amateur qualifiers, compete in the 'FA Cup of Darts'. Premium Darts Data took a look at the UK Open statistics as the event reaches its 16th staging.
The first ever UK Open match was a narrow 5-4 win for John Henderson over Paul Amos. There have now been 2,167, with the last of those being Peter Wright's 11-6 defeat of Gerwyn Price in the 2017 final. More than 23,000 legs have been played. A grand total of 809 players have taken part. 612 of them - or three quarters - have been English. 20 other nationalities have participated.
There have been eight nine-dart finishes at the UK Open. Phil Taylor notched up four of the eight, including all of the first four. The Power achieved perfection in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Mervyn King, Gary Anderson and Wes Newton have all managed the feat since. The most recent was Michael van Gerwen's in 2016, against Riley's qualifier Rob Cross.
