The news that the walk-on girls are no longer involved with televised darts tournaments caused a wave of indignant reactions on social media.
Raymond van Barneveld has also heard the news about the walk-on girls. The five-time world champion regrets that this decision has been made, he said on Twitter. 'Barney' asked over 226.000 followers to sign a petition for the preservation of the ladies for the darts.
''I will really miss the girls! For me they are a part of the darts. Sign their petition, so they hopefully can keep their jobs'', Van Barneveld replied to a message from walk-on girl Charlotte Wood.
