Raymond van Barneveld produced some brilliant darts to defeat Michael van Gerwen and hand him a second consecutive defeat in the Premier League meaning he has lost both games in Rotterdam.

‘Barney’ went 6-4 up and knew he’d have a chance to defeat the World Number 1 at some point. This was in a decider with him pinning a 68 checkout to inflict a defeat on his great Dutch rival.
Van Gerwen averaged more than Van Barneveld with 103 but like last night it was the doubles at right times that won the points. It now blows the league race wide open with the gap closed between 1st and second; as well as that it keeps Barney’s hopes alive of a playoff spot.

If the form or world rankings drop, they need to qualify. While this would reward the players who regularly make the trip.
