Van Gerwen after defeating Wright to move back to the top of the Premier League: ‘It's a great feeling’

Michael van Gerwen came through the first night of action in Rotterdam with a 7-1 demolition of Peter Wright.
Van Gerwen is back atop the Premier League and said it was a great feeling but that there’s more in the tank. "It was really important for me to put on a show for the fans, especially after last year, so to win 7-1 felt really good," said Van Gerwen. "Twice this year I could've won 7-0, but 7-1 against Peter Wright is still a phenomenal performance. "I feel good, and there's more in the tank for the rest of the year. He had a lucky run at Blackpool and even luckier at the World Championship and is still living off that. - Congratulations Zehra, an excellent performance, 3-0 was harsh on Rebecca, she played well and actually won a decent trophy better than what Zehra won. I think it is extremely poor and insulting that the girls prize money is half of what the boys win. At that level it should be equal, girls wanting to take up darts will see the injustice of winnings and could think twice about taking up the sport. Ultimately, winning is the only thing that matters, but I would be vocal about prize money if the female equivalent was double the amount.richieburnettrocks08-12-2025
