Van Gerwen saw off ‘Diamond’ in an 8-3 victory which was also the scoreline last time out against Simon Whitlock.
He hit a 100 average and despite a good comeback towards the end from White, MVG came through with ease.
Mighty Mike started proceedings off by claiming the first leg on double one. He missed the bull to go two-nil up and was punished by White.
Van Gerwen soon put that to rest though hitting a 130 checkout for a 12 dart break of throw and to go 3-1 up.
From there he hit four more consecutive legs to go one away. Only then did White start to hit back.
He claimed two consecutive legs to prolong the tie but it was too little too late for the Stoke ace with MVG claiming a 31st
European Tour title.
