Van Gerwen speaks after beating Gurney: "My confidence is good at the moment"

Michael van Gerwen showed last night why he is the best darts player with a comprehensive victory over Daryl Gurney. He goes to second in the table after that behind Michael Smith.
van Gerwen ran out a 7-2 winner against the World Grand Prix champion who’s doubles alluded him once again. He spoke after his win and admits he thought he played okay and that his confidence is good at the moment.
He also spoke about the crowd and said it was a 'special night' to be a part of.
"I think I played okay and I did the right things at the right moments to get the two points," said Van Gerwen. "I didn't make a lot of mistakes and my confidence is good at the moment.
"This was amazing tonight and darts is getting bigger and better all over the world. I love what I do and that's very important, and this was a special night.”

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
