This is alongside usual names including John Norman Jr & Ting Chi Royden Lam who usually skip the events on a regular basis which alongside the big names such as Van Gerwen skipping has allowed 9 players from the Challenge Tour to play.
Ronnie Baxter is not skipping this time out though with 'The Rocket' playing for the first time since February after missing all action since the UK Open Qualifiers. He returns to Players Championship action though.
Diogo Portela, Jarred Cole and Jason Cullen are among the players who have been rewarded for constant good form on the Challenge Tour. Cole in particular despite not winning a Challenge Tour has reached at least the Last 16 in 7/8 of the Challenge Tour
events. Jason Lowe who impressed in the UK Open Qualifiers reaching the latter stages in one will play on the
Pro Tour for the first time in nearly 12 years and recent winner John Davey will make his debut.
