Van Gerwen ‘very disappointed’ after losing to Van den Bergh in German Darts Masters

Michael van Gerwen was not pleased with his own performance after his surprising elimination at the German Darts Masters. 'Mighty Mike' lost in the quarterfinals to Dimitri van den Bergh. "I am very disappointed with my performance," said MVG on Twitter.

The number one missed several doubles which Van den Bergh punished. Van Gerwen did hit a higher average (98.72) than Van den Bergh (94.34), but the double percentage of the youth world champion was 47 percent higher than the Dutchman (33 percent).
He said the following: “I did not play well enough and Dimitri was the deserving winner. He took his chances and punished my mistakes. Good luck to him for the rest of the tournament”.
Van den Bergh went on to get to the final losing out to Mensur Suljovic who used his experience to get past the Belgian ace.
