Van Gerwen withdraws from Pro Tour double header in Wigan after below-par performance in Premier League

Michael van Gerwen has withdrawn from the two Players Championship events in Wigan this weekend, sources have told Dartsnews.

The 29-year-old Dutchman played in Nottingham on Thursday evening for the sixth round of the Premier League Darts. The intention was to travel to Wigan on Friday for the Pro Tour double header, but Van Gerwen decided to go home. The reason for his withdrawal is not confirmed.
