Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright played out the German Darts Grand Prix Final yesterday in Munich which ‘Mighty Mike’ claimed winning 8-5.
In the latter stages, the match produced some exhibition shot attempts by both players as Wright was looking to extend his chances of claiming the title and for Van Gerwen he was looking to win the German Darts Grand Prix.
’Snakebite’ was after a 64 finish and instead of going the conventional way, he tried to hit two D16’s.
He got the first one but couldn’t follow it up with the next two or the requisite 3 darts at double. This was due to Van Gerwen smashing in two bullseyes in a combination shot to leave him handy and throw Wright off.
