James Wade is through to the Last 16 at the UK Open after edging out Max Hopp on the Main Stage in Minehead despite not being at his best.
Wade hit four 180’s with a highest checkout of 115 but it was his finishing that brought him the victory with 40 percent. This is compared to Hopp’s higher average of 95.72 with seven 180’s but his finishing was only at 26 percent.
Aspinall smashed through Madars Razma with a 10-2 win to continue his brilliant form and put himself as a real dark horse compared to the bigger names.
The same can be said for Steve Beaton who edged out Keegan Brown who edges further back into form so could have been a real 50/50 match.
He was safely through though with a 96 average to not fall to the curse which usually takes place when big names fall.
Finally Steve Lennon is also through in a real close battle with Mickey Mansell but similar to Aspinall, the Irishman continues his impressive rise by reaching the latter stages in Minehead.
