Whitehead comes from behind to beat Gary Anderson; Durrant defeats De Zwaan after quality affair

The opening round is complete at Players Championship 8 in Wigan with Conan Whitehead seeing off Gary Anderson in the standout performance.
Whitehead was 4-0 down and was seemingly sinking to the Flying Scotsman but as Anderson started to fade, The Barbarian came back. He ended up edging him out 6-5 with a 93 average.
There was also a brilliant performance from Glen Durrant in seeing off Jeffrey de Zwaan. He averaged 105 to cement his good form so far on the ProTour this year.
There were also victories for Ian White, Daryl Gurney, Adrian Lewis and Gerwyn Price.
