Whitlock saw off Cadby in a polished performance from the Wizard who despite not being at his 100% best, profited from a wasteful Cadby. The former World Youth Champion hit 4/16 of his doubles attempts but showed flashes of his scoring brilliance on his return to TV action.
Heta on the other hand produced the only qualifier scalp of the first round seeing off his best friend from high school in Kyle Anderson. ‘The Crusader’ saw off ‘The Original’ in a deciding leg. He averaged 83.38 with 2 maximums despite only hitting 19% of his doubles.
Anderson who looked likely to crash out last week against Haupai Puha but didn’t wasn’t able to squeeze through this time.
