Wright completes double over Van Gerwen to upset the script in Rotterdam

Peter Wright completed an unlikely victory over Michael van Gerwen on home soil for ‘Mighty Mike’ and in the process complete a double over him in this years’ Premier League.
’Snakebite’ was 5-2 up and seemingly cruising before Van Gerwen clicked into gear pulling it back to 5-5. Wright though showed superb bottle in front of a hostile crowd to overcome MVG 7-5.
Van Gerwen didn’t play badly with him hitting a 107 average but it was 7/10 on doubles from the World Number Two with 3 180’s and a 99 average that accounted for the Dutchman.

He had a lucky run at Blackpool and even luckier at the World Championship and is still living off that. - I'm a big Huybretchs fan from when he broke through at the euros in the early days, but his action has gone. So jerky and inconsistent. Looking at where he'll be in the rankings, hopefully he can treat the new year as a new start, relax, enjoy it and push on without the pressure of defending lots of ££BandB12-12-2025
