Second edition of Online Darts World Championship announced

After a successful first edition, there will be a second edition of the Online Darts World Championship this year.

Last year, this event was created during the Covid-19 pandemic because no real tournaments could be played. Anyone could participate in the online World Championship, where scores must be entered online after every turn albeit with no streaming due to PDC rules.

Van Duijvenbode last year’s 'online world champion'

The field of participants in 2020 had an amazing number of 1540 participants from no less than sixty different countries. Big names such as Chris Dobey, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Kim Huybrechts, Jermaine Wattimena, Scott Waites and Luke Humphries participated. The tournament was won by Van Duijvenbode, who defeated Waites 15-12 in the final.

The upcoming edition is expected to take place from June 7 to July 4. However, the organization reports that the tournament may be postponed due to the high number of PDC participants, who have PDC obligations during this period in the Super Series.
