Rob Cross went agonisingly close to hitting the first 9-darter in 5 years on the Euro Tour against Darren Webster in today’s afternoon session in Saarbrucken.
‘Voltage’ went on to win 6-4 but the curse of Ross Smith lives on with Smith hitting the last 9-darter on the European Tour back in 2013 at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy.
Despite the standard increasing further since then there has still not been another one and Cross becomes the latest in a long line of players who have gone close to breaking the curse.
