Danny Lauby races into third round at Lakeside as Aileen de Graaf edges Nicole Regnaud in last leg decider

Aileen de Graaf and Danny Lauby Jr. have both made it through to the next round at Lakeside although there was contrasting levels of struggle in their respective matches on Wednesday night.

The 33-year-old player from Bunschoten-Spakenburg needed a deciding leg to get rid of New Zealand's Nicole Regnaud. With a 20 finish, De Graaf painstakingly pulled off the first set 3-2.

However, the second set was a 3-1 win for Regnaud, who managed to throw a 15-darter and a 17-darter, among others. A 124 finish gave the New Zealander a 2-1 lead in the deciding leg. But suddenly the triples did not fall as easily for Regnaud, allowing De Graaf to force a deciding leg via double 4. That leg went with a 15-darter to the Dutchwoman, who will meet Lorraine Winstanley in the quarterfinals.

In the men's tournament, Lauby was a dominant 3-0 winner over Dutchman Jarno Bottenberg, who'd impressed in round one with victory over Jamie Lewis. The American won the duel with the set scores 3-1, 3-0 and 3-0.
