Large dumps out Bennett, set to face Roes in 2022 WDF Lakeside Boys World Championship Final

Charlie Large dumped out pre-tournament favourite, Leighton 'Boom Boom' Bennett with a repeat of the JDC World Final not set up at the 2022 WDF Lakeside Boys World Championship.

Bennett was giving it large but not large enough as Large hit 112 and 127 en route to drawing level at 2-2 when it looked like ‘Boom Boom’ had gained momentum.

A 68 checkout went begging for Bennett for the set and Large hit double 12 to hit 56 to seal it. Bennett hit an 80 checkout to go 1-0 up and break to begin the second set.

Bennett pounced after Large missed a break chance to go 2-0 up and he hit double 10 to seal the set. A 148 checkout saw Bennett go 1-0 up. Large couldn’t level up but Bennett missed a 50 checkout which allowed him back again.

Both had double trouble and it was Large who pounced on double six. Bennett hit double eight to send it all the way. A 39 checkout after double trouble for both saw Large seal it.

Bradly Roes will aim for back-to-back World titles after defeating Bennett at the Alexandra Palace earlier in the year at the JDC and this time, it will be Large in his way after seeing off Luis Liptow.

With Roes struggling to get going, Liptow had a chance to go 2-0 up but chased round the board and the Dutchman levelled up.

This began a turnaround as he took the set 3-1. He pinned double 20 to go one away against Liptow with a break and he sealed it on double 20.
