Robb and Monaghan win titles at New Zealand Open and secure WDF World Championship qualification

In Motueka, New Zealand, Ben Robb and Victoria Monaghan won titles at the New Zealand Open last weekend.

This tournament was ranked with a gold status on the WDF calendar. That meant the two winners would earn qualification for the WDF World Championship in 2023.

In the men's event, the final victory went to Robb. In the final he was too strong for his fellow compatriot Haupai Puha with 6-5.

Monaghan won in the ladies by beating Wendy Harper in the final with 5-4. This garnered some interest as seemingly Monaghan is the first trans player to win a WDF tournament and will be the first to compete at the showpiece tournament next year.
