In the girls' category at the 2024 WDF World Championship, Sophie McKinlay qualified for the final. The 18-year-old Scot, who also made the final in the women's category this afternoon by defeating Lorena Rietbergen 3-1, won 2-0 over Italy's Aurora Fochesato.

Fochesato was defending champion but instead it will be England v Scotland in the final. McKinlay won both sets 3-1. In the final, she will take on Britain's Paige Pauling. Her opponent in the women's final will be confirmed shortly in the landmark tie between Deta Hedman and title favourite Beau Greaves.

The 13-year-old Belgian Lex Paeshuyse failed to reach the final of the WDF Boys' World Championship. The super talent faced Archie Self in the semi-final on the Lakeside stage, who eventually proved too strong 2-0 in sets. Albeit Self was one of the favourites to seal the title before a dart was thrown alongside Walker who has played in the UK Open in the PDC for instance this year.

Self took the lead by winning the first leg in 16-darts. However, the young Belgian reacted immediately and came back to 1-1 with a 17-darter. With a 72 finish, the British talent regained the lead and broke his opponent.

Self then threw an 18-darter to keep his own leg, leading 1-0 in sets and allowing Self to start the next set.

In the first leg of the second set, Paeshuyse seemed to break his opponent immediately. Self threw a spectacular 110-finish to decide the leg in his favor. The second leg also went to the Brit via a 12-darter with a 145-finish, so nothing seemed to stand in his way to win the match.

The 13-year-old Belgian was clearly stricken after these two ticks and was unable to turn the tide. Self decided the match with a 16-darter to secure the victory. In the final he will face his compatriot Jenson Walker.
