Tricole punishes doubling disaster to deny Baetens, O'Sullivan surges past O'Brien

The latest semi-finalists at the 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship with Thibault Tricole punishing a double disaster from Andy Baetens as he came from 2-1 down to claim a 4-3 win.

Baetens breezed through the opening set to continue from his exploits from last night. He made it four 180’s and broke throw to make it 2-2. He missed 71 on double 20 though to attempt to seal the set and Tricole hit double 10 to make it 1-1.

Baetens hit a 96 checkout to go 2-0 up but Tricole hit back with a 76 to make it 2-1 only for Baetens to hit back with a 15-darter.

To begin the fourth set, they exchanged holds with Tricole hitting a 120 checkout to make it 1-1. Baetens hit double nine to go 2-1 up and one away from a 3-1 sets lead.

An 80 checkout though saw Tricole make it 2-2 and after another handful of set darts, Tricole levelled again and took the lead from there. After going 2-0 down, Tricole fought again with a 14-darter to break en route to sealing the win.

While Rhian O'Sullivan has surged into the semi-finals after storming past Maria O'Brien in a straight sets win with four 180's and an 89 average.

O’Brien hit a 135 to begin the tie as she bounced back from a tumble. O’Sullivan hit back but couldn’t hold and O’Brien broke to go 2-1 up.

O’Sullivan hit another maximum and broke back again to send it all the way. It was a third 180 from O’Sullivan and she took the opening set.

A 92 checkout saw O’Sullivan go 1-0 up and she held throw on double four to go one away from the semi-final. A 180 and double 20 checkout saw the Welshwoman seal the deal.
